Change to Estate/Trust Accounts

We have updated our systems with a change that affects TFPA accounts and policies created for estates or trusts. “Estate/Trust” has been removed from the “Account Type” drop-down list.

Effective immediately, “Individual” is the only account type option available in the system.

Properties deeded to an Estate or Trust must be written in an individual’s name with the Estate or Trust listed as an “Additional Named Insured” or “Additional Insured.” This applies to both owner-occupied and rental properties.

  1. The Account Holder and Named Insured on a property deeded to an Estate should be the Executor or Heir of the Estate. The Estate can then be added as an “Additional Named Insured” or an “Additional Insured.
  1. The Account Holder and Named Insured on a property deeded to a Trust should be the Trustee or Beneficiary of the Trust. The Trust can then be added as an “Additional Named Insured” or an “Additional Insured.

All existing accounts in the name of “Estate/Trust” will no longer allow new submissions to be added to the account. A new account must be created in accordance with the instructions above.
