Structures with Unrepaired Damage Affected by Harvey

Hurricane Harvey has been devastating to many communities. The damage to residential structures is widespread and rebuilding will take some time.

Although the FAIR Plan is considered a market of last resort, applications submitted for coverage are subject to eligibility and underwriting guidelines.

New policies: On an exception basis, structures with unrepaired damage from Hurricane Harvey may be submitted for new coverage through the FAIR Plan if the repairs are expected to be completed within the first 120 days of coverage.

Renewal policies: For renewal policies that have incurred a loss during Hurricane Harvey, TFPA Underwriting will work with agents and policyholders and make reasonable accommodations to provide continuous coverage while the structure is undergoing repairs. Agents should review the policy and TFPA underwriting guidelines for timelines surrounding when repairs must be made, and consult with TFPA Underwriting for any accommodations.
