Policy Moratorium in Effect

Texas FAIR Plan Association (TFPA) has determined that the storm known as Hurricane Marco is a threat to coverage areas and has issued a moratorium on binding coverage, which impacts the following Texas counties:

Angelina, Aransas, Austin, Bowie, Brazoria, Calhoun, Cameron, Camp, Cass, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Gregg, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Harrison, Jasper, Jefferson, Kenedy, Kleburg, Liberty, Marion, Matagorda, Montgomery, Morris, Nacogdoches, Newton, Nueces, Orange, Panola, Polk, Refugio, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, San Jacinto, San Patricio, Shelby, Titus, Trinity, Tyler, Upshur, Walker, Waller, Washington, Wharton, and Willacy.

Effective 11:30 a.m. on August 23, 2020, TFPA can no longer accept new or increased coverage applications. When Hurricane Marco is no longer deemed a threat, we will send a bulletin and post on our website to let agents know that we are once again processing applications. Please note that applications submitted prior to the moratorium will be processed according to normal underwriting rules.

TFPA is preparing for claim handling in response to Hurricane Marco, with management continuously monitoring claim volume to ensure sufficient staff and resources are available to provide a high-level of customer service. We are also actively monitoring Tropical Storm Laura, currently in the Caribbean.

We will continue to keep our stakeholders updated about Hurricane Marco and notify them when the moratorium on accepting new and increased coverage applications has ended.

TFPA policyholders or their agents whose insured properties sustain damage can file claims online at www.texasfairplan.org/claimscenter. Claims can also be filed by calling TFPA’s 24-hour Claims Center at (800) 979-6440.
