Governing Committee

Governing Committee

The Texas FAIR Plan Association was established to deliver residential property insurance to Texas residents in underserved areas of the state as determined by the Commissioner of Insurance. The Texas Legislature provided the statutory authority for the creation of the FAIR Plan in 1995, but it wasn’t activated until December 2002, in response to an availability problem created by significant mold and water damage claims in Texas.

The Texas FAIR Plan Association is administered by an 11-member Governing Committee. The Governing Committee is composed of five members who represent the interest of insurers, four public members who live in Texas, and two members who are general property and casualty agents. The Texas Commissioner of Insurance or an employee of the Texas Department of Insurance serves as an ex officio member of the Governing Committee. Members of the Governing Committee serve a term of two years.

Upcoming Meetings

The next TFPA Governing Committee meeting will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Tremont House Hotel in Galveston, Texas.
